The nomination process for the second general elections to the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) began on Friday, October 16, with 66 nominations submitted for ward member posts. However, no candidates filed nominations for the Mayor’s post on the opening day.
Gajuwaka Zone recorded the highest number of nominations at 26. South Zone received 11 nominations, followed by Aganampudi with nine, North Zone with seven, Pendurthi with six, East Zone with four and West Zone with three. Bheemili, Madhurawada and Anakapalli zones did not receive any ward member nominations on the first day.
The filing of nominations marks the beginning of a key stage in the civic election process, as candidates prepare to contest ward-level positions across Visakhapatnam. The process will determine the nominees competing for representation in the city’s municipal corporation.
