Political parties have stepped up preparations for the upcoming local body elections in Visakhapatnam, with both the NDA alliance and YSRCP focusing on their organisational networks and potential candidates.

The NDA alliance partners — TDP, Jana Sena and BJP — have been holding coordination meetings to discuss election preparations and constituency-level plans. A recent meeting in Visakhapatnam reviewed coordination among the alliance partners and preparations at the grassroots level.

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is also making administrative preparations for elections across its 120 wards. Officials have reviewed arrangements including polling stations, voter lists, photo electoral rolls and election-related training.

Meanwhile, the YSRCP has directed its regional leadership to accelerate preparations, identify potential candidates and strengthen local organisational units. The party has also called for consultations with leaders at different levels before candidate lists are finalised.

 

No candidate list or seat-sharing arrangement for the Visakhapatnam local body elections has been finalised at this stage, with parties continuing their internal consultations.
