Visakhapatnam’s medical technology manufacturing ecosystem is set to welcome a new entrant, with Royal Sandur MedTech Private Limited securing a long-term land lease at the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ).
The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Limited, the flagship company of the Royal Sandur Group. The lease agreement with Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone Limited, a Government of Andhra Pradesh undertaking, was executed on October 19, 2026.
6.2 Acres Leased for Manufacturing
Under the agreement, Royal Sandur MedTech has leased 6.2 acres of developed land, equivalent to approximately 25,090 square metres, at AMTZ in Visakhapatnam. The site is supported by essential infrastructure, including roads, electricity, water supply and effluent management facilities.
The lease has a tenure of 33 years. The agreement also provides the company with an exclusive option to convert its leasehold rights into freehold ownership after 10 years from the commencement of business.
The company has additionally secured office space at the World Trade Center AMTZ to support project development.
Sandur Manganese Expands into Medical Technology
The move marks a new phase in Sandur Manganese’s business diversification. The company has traditionally operated in manganese and iron ore mining, ferroalloys, coke and energy, and specialty steel.
Through Royal Sandur MedTech, it now plans to enter the medical devices and consumables manufacturing sector. Managing Director Bahirji A. Ghorpade said the company aims to develop new growth opportunities alongside its established mining and metals businesses.
The company stated that AMTZ’s shared manufacturing infrastructure and scientific facilities would provide a suitable platform for establishing its operations.
AMTZ Strengthens Visakhapatnam’s Manufacturing Ecosystem
The Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone is a specialised medical technology park in Visakhapatnam that provides common manufacturing and scientific facilities for medical device companies.
The arrival of another manufacturer could contribute to the region’s medical technology ecosystem and support the broader objective of expanding domestic medical device production.
However, the company has not yet announced the planned capital expenditure, specific products to be manufactured or the expected commencement date of production. Further details on the project’s investment and implementation schedule are expected in due course.
The development adds another potential manufacturing investment to Visakhapatnam, as the city continues to build its presence in healthcare technology and industrial development.
