South Coast Railway has stepped up monitoring of drinking water quality at railway stations across Andhra Pradesh. Water quality checks are being carried out at 385 stations under the newly operationalised railway zone. The initiative is aimed at ensuring safe and hygienic drinking water for passengers and railway staff. Officials are monitoring water sources and supply points available at stations. Samples are being checked to identify any issues affecting water quality. The exercise forms part of broader efforts to improve passenger amenities and sanitation standards. Railway authorities are also focusing on regular monitoring to ensure that water facilities remain compliant with prescribed standards. The initiative covers stations across the South Coast Railway network, including important stations in the Visakhapatnam region. Regular testing can help authorities identify contamination or other quality concerns at an early stage. The checks are expected to strengthen passenger confidence in drinking water facilities at railway stations. SCoR has been focusing on safety, infrastructure and passenger services since becoming operational as India’s 18th railway zone. The enhanced monitoring is part of these efforts to improve the overall travel experience for passengers.
