Visakhapatnam's Three Town police made headlines on July 5, 2025, after arresting a South African national and a local resident with 25 grams of cocaine. The suspects—Chekuri Akshay (34), an insurance agent from Seethammadhara, and Thomos Djimon (30), from Pretoria but residing in Delhi—were caught near a car parked on AU Engineering College Road. According to Vizag police chief Shanka Brata Bagchi, actionable intelligence led Three Town Inspector P. Pydiyya to intercept the duo. Akshay confessed that he and his associates planned the drug procurement, contacted a person named Prince in Delhi, and collected ₹3.6 lakh for the transaction.
When Djimon arrived to deliver the cocaine, officers apprehended him and seized the 25 g of cocaine, cash totaling ₹3.6 lakh, the vehicle used, three mobile phones, and a diary concealing the drugs. Akshay revealed that the cocaine was sourced from Delhi through Prince, and transported to Vizag by Djimon. Police continue to investigate to uncover the drug supply chain and any larger networks involved.
