South Coast Railway (SCoR) has introduced the ‘Jan Samvad’ programme to identify operational gaps and understand the concerns of passengers and railway users. The initiative is intended to create a direct channel of communication between railway officials and the public.
Through these interactions, passengers can raise concerns about train services, the availability of coaches, station amenities, cleanliness and other operational issues. Railway officials can use the feedback to identify areas that require attention and coordinate with the relevant departments.
The programme also encourages participation from members of railway users’ consultative committees and other stakeholders. Such meetings provide an opportunity to discuss local railway requirements and bring passenger concerns to the attention of officials responsible for operations and infrastructure.
In a related passenger interaction held by the Vijayawada Division at Gudivada on October 13, 2026, participants raised concerns about inadequate accommodation on Narsapur trains and called for additional coaches. Suggestions regarding station greenery and passenger amenities were also discussed. This illustrates the type of issues that passenger-feedback programmes can bring to the notice of railway authorities.
For Visakhapatnam, which serves as the headquarters of South Coast Railway, initiatives focused on passenger feedback and operational efficiency are relevant to improving the overall railway experience across the zone.
The effectiveness of Jan Samvad will depend on how the concerns raised during these interactions are reviewed and translated into practical improvements in railway services.
