In a major boost to passenger amenities, the first ‘sleeping pod’ facility under the East Coast Railway (ECoR) zone was officially inaugurated at Visakhapatnam Railway Station. This innovative addition aims to provide affordable, clean, and comfortable resting spaces for travelers—especially those on long layovers or in transit.

📍 The pod facility includes:

• 🛏️ 73 single beds

• 🛌 15 double beds

• 👩‍🦰 18 beds exclusively for women
  All of these are located in a dedicated dormitory-style hall, equipped with separate washrooms, dressing rooms, and secure lockers, ensuring both privacy and safety for users.

The facility is designed with modern aesthetics, and bookings can be done both online and offline, offering flexibility for passengers. The sleeping pods provide essential amenities like charging points, reading lights, and temperature control, catering to the needs of modern-day travelers.

Railway officials highlighted that this is the first of its kind in the ECoR zone, marking a milestone in Indian Railways’ initiative to enhance station infrastructure and meet global standards.
