Vizag Gears Up for IFR–2026 and President’s Visit; Collector Calls for Coordinated Efforts

Visakhapatnam is gearing up to host the prestigious International Fleet Review (IFR)–2026 and MILAN Village events from February 17 to 20, alongside the visit of the Honourable President of India. District Collector M. N. Harendhira Prasad has called upon all departments to work in close coordination to ensure the events are conducted smoothly and securely.

Reviewing the preparations at the Collectorate with senior Navy officials, district authorities, police and defence officials, the Collector stressed that the IFR and MILAN programmes should be treated as high-priority national events. He directed officials to strictly follow security protocols and ensure seamless arrangements for the President’s visit.

Key focus areas include uninterrupted power backup, medical and fire safety services, public address systems, barricading, telecom and internet connectivity, convoy management, public transport, drinking water, queue management and visitor amenities. Cultural and traditional dance performances, marching contingents and well-planned stall arrangements at MILAN Village and the Cruise Terminal were also reviewed. Emphasis was laid on sanitation, cleanliness and regulation of private boats and fishing activities during the events.

The Collector also instructed departments to complete beautification and civil works across the city on a fast-track basis, including parks, major roads and tourist areas. Road works from INS Dega to Maruti Junction, completion of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel bridge, and improvements on the Pinagadi–Vepagunta road were highlighted.

Senior Navy officials informed that 73 delegates from India and abroad will attend the events, with ships from 22 countries participating. The International Fleet Review will be held on February 18 under the President’s leadership, followed by MILAN inauguration and City Parade on February 19. The events will witness the presence of the Defence Minister, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Union and State Ministers, and senior officials.

The review meeting was attended by senior Navy officers, GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg, VMRDA Commissioner Tej Bharat, Deputy Commissioner of Police Manikanta Chandolu, and other district officials.
