Visakhapatnam City Police recovered stolen and missing property collectively valued at more than ₹1.13 crore during August 2026. The recovery included gold and silver ornaments, cash, motorcycles, laptops, mobile phones and other valuables. 

According to City Police Commissioner Dr. Shankabrata Bagchi, the recovered property included over 796 grams of gold ornaments, 9.5 kg of silver ornaments, ₹14.75 lakh in cash, 25 bikes, three laptops and 414 missing or stolen mobile phones. The property was returned to its owners during a recovery mela conducted on Friday. 

Police also said that over the past two years, 11,958 stolen or lost mobile phones valued at ₹17.94 crore had been recovered. Overall, more than ₹25 crore worth of stolen property has been recovered and returned to owners through recovery melas, according to the police. 

 

As part of crime-prevention efforts, police installed 661 CCTV cameras across the city and conducted 472 crime-awareness meetings during August to educate residents about criminal activities and preventive measures.
