All-women army team arrives in Vizag to participate in PFR and MILAN 2022



An 'All Women Army Expedition' that was flagged off from Chennai reached Visakhapatnam on 17th February, 2022. The team of seven army officers started on a journey, which is the-first –of-its-kind in the history of the Indian Army. 

They travelled on a 44-ft-long Bavaria class boat. The expedition was organized under the supervision of the EME Sailing Association. It was flagged off in Chennai on February 15. It covered a total distance of 330 miles and led by Maj Mukta after an adventurous journey of 54 hours reached Visakhapatnam.

Meanwhile, an official announcement about the PFR and MILAN 2022 was made with the naval release. A release said that on February 21, the President of India will review the two fleet of the Navy, Coast Guard, SCI and MoES comprising 60 ships manned by over 10,000 personnel.

 


INS Sumitra is designated as the Presidential Yacht. President will sail through a formation of 44 ships symmetrically anchored off Visakhapatnam coast.
Along with this,  a 55 naval aircraft flypast, submarine and ship formation steam past, water para jumps by the elite Marine Commandos, search and rescue demonstration at sea, aerobatics by Hawk aircraft and a parade of sailboats including the famous Mhadei  were also included in the programs.

President will be releasing a special designed first day cover and a commemorative stamp during the PFR.

Eastern Naval Command will also be hosting MILAN-22 from February 25th – March 4th with a theme ‘Building Bridges Of Friendship across the oceans with Camaraderie, Cohesion and Collaboration’.
