Andhra Pradesh to officially function with 26 districts from today (4 April,2022)



The Andhra Pradesh state government, headed by Chief Minister (CM) YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, announced earlier in January 2022 the 26 districts plan. A notification was released specifying the revenue boundaries and district headquarters for the 26 districts.

The  new districts include Manyam, Alluri Seetarama Raju, NTR, Anakapalli, Konaseema, Eluru, Bapatla, Palnadu, Nandyala, Sri Satyasai, Kakinada, Annamaiah, Sri Balaji, and Parvathipuram.

From 4 April,2022, Andhra Pradesh will officially have 13 new districts. The state government had issued a gazette notification mentioning all 26 districts. The gazette issued on 2 April,2022 said that all the new districts would be functioning from 4 April, 2022. CM Jagan Mohan Reddy will inaugurate the 13 new districts on 4 April between 9:04 am, and 9:45 am.


The AP government also reshuffled all the vital administrative officers and appointed collectors. Superintendents of Police to the newly-created districts are also appointed.

The new districts are Manyam, Anakappalli, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Kakinada, Konaseema, Eluru, Palnadu, Bapatla, Nandyal, Sri Satya Sai, Sri Balaji,Annamaya, and NTR. This  formation of these new districts is expected to bring better administration and functioning of the bodies.

Visakhapatnam is divided into three districts Anakapalli, Alluri Seetharamaraju, and Visakhapatnam. The East Godavari district is divided into Kakinada, Konaseema, and East Godavari.
