Amazon’s Amazon Now quick-commerce service is seeing strong customer response in Visakhapatnam following its launch in the city a few weeks ago. The service currently fulfils orders through nine More Retail stores located across the city.
Srikant Sree Ram, Director of Everyday Essentials at Amazon India, said during an interaction in Visakhapatnam that Amazon Now orders are almost six to seven times higher than what the company previously received through Amazon Fresh. He added that around 40% of customers return to purchase within four to six weeks.
Amazon Now offers quick delivery of groceries and other everyday products. The company said around 40% of products in an average order are non-grocery items, while demand for healthier products has also been increasing. Sales of dry fruits and nuts were reported to be 60% above normal levels, with almond purchases nearly tripling.
Amazon said Amazon Now has crossed $1 billion in annualised gross sales in India, with orders doubling every quarter since its launch. The company is also expanding the service to more cities, with a target of reaching 100 cities by Diwali.
In Andhra Pradesh, Amazon Now is already available in several cities, including Guntur, Nellore, Tirupati, Kurnool, Kadapa, Anantapur, Vijayawada and Rajahmundry
