CBI Arrests Two in Bribery Case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Sudhakara T.M., Assistant Director and in-charge of the Plant Quarantine Station (PQS) in Visakhapatnam, along with a private individual, Sunkavalli Satyanarayana, in connection with an alleged ₹1 lakh bribery case.
According to the CBI, the Assistant Director allegedly demanded ₹1 lakh from a private firm in exchange for clearing containers awaiting approval from the Plant Quarantine Station.
The agency registered a case on November 6, 2026, against two Plant Quarantine Station officials, three private individuals and other unidentified persons over the alleged demand and acceptance of an undue advantage.
CBI Trap Operation
Following a complaint and verification, the CBI laid a trap on November 6. During the operation, the Assistant Director was allegedly caught accepting the ₹1 lakh bribe through Sunkavalli Satyanarayana, who is accused of acting as an intermediary. The agency stated that the entire bribe amount was recovered.
Both individuals were subsequently arrested and produced before the competent court in Visakhapatnam.
Searches Across Three States
After the arrests, the CBI conducted searches at premises linked to the accused in Visakhapatnam, Faridabad in Haryana and Thimanapalli village in Kolar district of Karnataka.
The investigation is continuing to establish the roles of the other individuals named in the case and examine whether further irregularities were involved in the container-clearance process.
The allegations are part of an ongoing investigation, and the accused are entitled to the due process of law.
