Visakhapatnam welcomed the Dasara festive season with religious fervour, as devotees took part in prayers and traditional rituals at temples across the city. The celebrations mark the worship of Goddess Durga during Navaratri, culminating in Vijayadashami, which symbolises the triumph of good over evil.
Temples and local communities observe the festival through special pujas, devotional activities and decorations. Traditional practices associated with Dasara in the region include displaying dolls during Bommala Koluvu, offering prayers to the Goddess in different forms and organising community celebrations.
The festival is an important part of Andhra Pradesh’s cultural and religious life, bringing families and devotees together for worship and festive gatherings.
