Visakhapatnam continued to experience heavy rainfall for the third consecutive day as the deep depression affected North Andhra. According to the district administration, an average of 319.3 mm of rainfall was recorded across the district between 8:30 a.m. on September 21 and 4 p.m. on September 24. 

Visakhapatnam Rural mandal recorded 412.4 mm, followed by Seethammadhara with 386.6 mm and Gopalapatnam with 361.8 mm. Several low-lying and vulnerable areas experienced waterlogging, prompting officials to closely monitor the situation and alert residents. 

Rescue operations were also carried out in affected areas. Officials rescued a group of five people after their car became trapped in floodwater following a fall into a canal at Kanithi in the Madhurawada area. Cyclone shelters and rehabilitation centres were set up at community halls in Seethammadhara, Maharanipeta, Gajuwaka, Mulagada and Gopalapatnam, with essential supplies and medical services being provided. 

 

Within GVMC limits, 129 rain-related complaints were received, of which 117 had been resolved by Thursday. Sanitation and chlorination activities were also intensified in areas requiring immediate attention.
