To ensure that more consumers benefit from the lower-priced onions, purchases are being restricted to 2 kg per person, with Aadhaar verification used for the subsidised sale. The lower price has attracted considerable demand at the city’s Rythu Bazaars. The Balanced News
The subsidised onion programme is part of the Andhra Pradesh government’s efforts to provide relief to consumers amid rising onion prices. Sales have also begun at individual Rythu Bazaars in the Visakhapatnam region, including Chittivalasa, where officials said families can purchase up to 2 kg a month at ₹35 per kg based on Aadhaar.
