The Meteorological Department has forecast the formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, near Odisha–West Bengal coasts, on August 25 (Monday).
Under its influence, heavy rains are expected on August 26 and 27 in North Coastal Andhra districts including Srikakulam, Parvathipuram Manyam, Vizianagaram, and Visakhapatnam. Light to moderate rains are also likely across parts of the state over the next three days.
Today (August 25), scattered showers are expected in Kakinada, Konaseema, East & West Godavari districts, while other districts may receive light rainfall.
Meanwhile, rainfall has reduced over the past three days, easing flood levels in Godavari and Krishna rivers. At Bhadrachalam, the water level has receded to 39.2 feet, with no danger warning in force. Water levels at Kunavaram (18.99 m), Polavaram (12.65 m), and Dowleswaram (12.34 lakh cusecs inflow/outflow) show a decline.
On the Krishna river, inflows at Srisailam (4.73 lakh cusecs) and Nagarjunasagar (4.45 lakh cusecs) are gradually reducing. At Prakasam Barrage, inflows and outflows are around 3.92 lakh cusecs, leading to the withdrawal of the first flood warning.
Authorities have advised people, especially those in low-lying areas, to remain cautious until the situation normalizes.
