Missing Woman’s 2021 Case in Visakhapatnam Confirmed as Murder

In a significant development, Visakhapatnam police have resolved the long-pending 2021 case involving the disappearance of 45-year-old P. Geetha. The investigation, which had gone cold, was reopened in May 2025 following an emotional appeal from her daughter.

Upon reopening the case, the police retraced old leads and interrogated previous suspects, which led to the shocking revelation that Geetha had been murdered by an acquaintance, A. Diwakar. Investigators discovered that after committing the crime, Diwakar disposed of her body in a nearby canal to destroy evidence.

The renewed efforts and persistence of the victim’s daughter played a pivotal role in pushing authorities to revisit the case. This breakthrough has not only brought closure to the grieving family but also highlights the importance of relentless pursuit in cases that initially go unsolved.

The accused, A. Diwakar, has been arrested and legal proceedings are underway. The police have assured that justice will be served and that procedures are being put in place to ensure such delays are avoided in future investigations.
