In a timely and compassionate initiative, Rotary Vizag Diamonds successfully organised a Blood Donation Camp in Visakhapatnam, responding to the critical need for blood that intensifies every year during the summer season. The camp stands as a powerful example of community service in action — turning concern into contribution.

Summer months are notoriously challenging for blood banks across India. Rising temperatures, increased travel, and seasonal illnesses create a perfect storm of high demand and low supply. In Visakhapatnam, this shortage is particularly acute, putting patients undergoing surgeries, accident victims, and those battling chronic conditions at serious risk. Rotary Vizag Diamonds recognised this urgent need and took decisive action.

 

The camp saw enthusiastic participation from Rotary members themselves, with G. Vishnu Dev and Secretary Siva Kumar leading by example and donating blood personally. Their willingness to roll up their sleeves set the tone for the entire event, inspiring others to come forward. In total, 25 units of blood were collected — each unit capable of saving up to three lives, meaning this single camp has the potential to impact over 75 individuals in need.

The initiative was organised under the visionary leadership of Rotary Vizag Diamonds President S. Kameswara Rao Garu, whose commitment to community welfare continues to drive the club's impactful work across the city. Blood Bank Chair Gokavarapu Rambabu played a pivotal role in coordinating the camp's logistics and outreach, ensuring the event ran smoothly and safely. The success of the camp is equally a testament to the dedicated support of every team member who volunteered their time and energy to make it happen.

Beyond the numbers, the camp carried a deeper message — that saving a life can be as simple as giving 30 minutes of your time. Blood cannot be manufactured. It can only come from people who care enough to give it.
