Visakhapatnam’s Anandapuram Junction is set for an infrastructure upgrade, with the foundation stone laid on Tuesday, October 13, for a project worth approximately ₹81 lakh.
Bheemunipatnam MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao launched the project, which aims to address growing traffic congestion at the junction along National Highway 16 (NH-16). The intersection has experienced increasing vehicle movement, raising concerns about traffic management and smooth connectivity.
The planned expansion is particularly significant as traffic volumes are expected to increase further with the anticipated opening of Bhogapuram International Airport. Improving the junction is expected to help vehicles move more smoothly through this important road connection.
During the foundation-laying programme, the MLA reportedly instructed the contractor and officials to complete the work within the stipulated deadline, highlighting the need to address congestion at the earliest. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Deputy Manager Gopikrishna and several alliance leaders attended the event.
The project forms part of efforts to improve road infrastructure around Visakhapatnam as the region prepares for increased connectivity and economic activity linked to the upcoming airport.
