Visakhapatnam is set to receive a new multi-sport facility at Pedagantyada, under the Gajuwaka constituency, with the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) taking up the project at an estimated cost of ₹9.09 crore.
Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat and TDP State president and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao laid the foundation stone for the proposed sports complex on October 10, 2026. The facility will be spread across six acres and is intended to provide sporting and fitness opportunities for local residents, particularly young people and aspiring athletes.
The proposed complex will include:
-
A 120-metre-diameter cricket ground and two practice pitches
-
Two basketball courts
-
A skating rink
-
Tennis and volleyball courts
-
An open gym for public fitness
-
A 484-metre-long jogging track around the cricket ground
Additional facilities are planned, including spectator galleries, an administrative building, landscaped green spaces, gazebos, pergolas, seating areas and parking on three sides of the complex.
The project is expected to provide local sportspersons with a dedicated space to practise, train and develop skills across different disciplines. The foundation stone ceremony marks the beginning of the proposed development; the reports do not specify a completion date.
