Andhra Pradesh Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh announced a fresh beautification initiative for Rushikonda Blue Flag Beach, allocating ₹24 lakh to elevate the destination’s standards and maintain its prestigious global eco-label.
Acting to Preserve Blue Flag Status
During a site inspection on Thursday, Minister Durgesh emphasised that this funding marks the beginning of continuous efforts to ensure Rushikonda upholds international Blue Flag criteria—covering environmental management, water purity, safety, security, and waste handling
Enhancing Beachside Experience
Installation of eco-friendly double-decker electric buses is underway, aimed at providing sustainable and comfortable visitor transport along the beachfront
Infrastructure, Landscaping & Amenities
The ₹24 lakh will be used for:
Solid waste & greywater treatment systems
Enhanced security, including traffic control and surveillance
New green zones, seating areas, and child play zones
Regular maintenance and sanitation of restrooms, walkways, and drains
Tourism & Local Impact
International tourists are expected to increase due to cleaner, greener infrastructure.
