Six policemen were injured in a road accident near Visakhapatnam Zoo Park on Thursday morning. An escort bus carrying around 30 police personnel was travelling towards Gudilova when the incident occurred. The bus driver reportedly swerved to avoid a car near the Zoo Park area. The bus then crossed the road divider and entered the opposite lane. A lorry travelling from Madhurawada towards Visakhapatnam subsequently collided with the front portion of the bus. Several police personnel sustained injuries in the collision. Five constables reportedly suffered serious injuries, while others sustained minor injuries. Six injured personnel were undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital in Arilova. The damaged police vehicle was moved to the roadside with the assistance of a crane. Traffic movement was subsequently restored in the area. Arilova police registered a case and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. The incident has once again highlighted the need for caution and safe driving on busy city roads.
