A 50-year-old fisherman named Appanna has gone missing after falling overboard from a fishing boat off the Visakhapatnam coast. The incident occurred while the eight-member crew was returning from a fishing trip. The crew had set out to sea on August 16 and was returning early Thursday morning. Appanna reportedly went to the rear of the boat to collect salt used for preserving fish. The other fishermen then heard a sudden splash and found that he was no longer on the boat. The fishing vessel was operating around 11 nautical miles from the Visakhapatnam coast at the time. Authorities were alerted following the incident and a search operation was launched. The Indian Coast Guard and Navy are involved in efforts to locate the missing fisherman. Marine Police and the Fisheries Department are also coordinating the response. The remaining fishermen stayed at sea to assist the search teams. Andhra Pradesh Home Minister V Anitha directed officials to intensify the search and use all available resources. Authorities have urged fishermen to exercise greater caution and follow safety measures while venturing into the sea.
