Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat has urged Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to take up the development of Beach Road in Visakhapatnam, with the aim of strengthening the city’s infrastructure and promoting tourism.
The proposal was raised during a meeting in New Delhi attended by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. The discussions covered several infrastructure and industrial development priorities for Andhra Pradesh.
Sribharat also highlighted the proposed transfer of salt lands under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). The move was discussed in the context of supporting port-led industrialisation and strengthening Visakhapatnam’s role as an industrial and commercial centre.
The meeting also covered opportunities to expand exports of Andhra Pradesh’s agricultural and marine products, particularly chillies, tobacco and aquaculture products, to improve market access.
Other projects discussed included the proposed Outer Ring Road for Amaravati and an iconic bridge associated with the Polavaram Project. These proposals form part of broader efforts to improve connectivity, support investment and promote economic development across the State.
Note: The report describes proposals and requests; it does not confirm that Beach Road development has received final approval or funding.
