Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat has emphasized that sustainability should not be limited to climate action alone but should include environmental protection, economic growth, and active public participation. Speaking at the second edition of the CII Andhra Pradesh Sustainability Summit 2026, he highlighted the need for a holistic approach to achieving long-term and inclusive development.
During his address, the MP stated that sustainability also encompasses food security, soil health, water conservation, scientific urban planning, and responsible industrial development. He stressed the importance of promoting rainwater harvesting, wastewater recycling, and stronger monitoring systems to protect natural resources and improve environmental management.
Referring to Visakhapatnam's rapid urban and industrial growth, Sribharat called for improved air quality management, effective waste segregation, cleaner logistics, and sustainable infrastructure. He also highlighted the need to develop green ports, cleaner maritime fuels, and better rail connectivity to support economic growth while reducing environmental impact.
The summit brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and sustainability experts to discuss practical solutions for balancing economic development with environmental responsibility. The MP urged governments, industries, and citizens to work together in building a resilient and sustainable future for Andhra Pradesh.
