The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Andhra Pradesh has finalised its seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming urban local body elections. Under the agreement, the Telugu Desam Party will contest the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), while its alliance partners Jana Sena Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party will contest other allocated municipal corporations.
The agreement distributes the state’s 17 municipal corporations among the three parties. TDP has been allocated 11 corporations, Jana Sena four, and BJP two. The arrangement also covers municipalities and nagar panchayats across Andhra Pradesh.
In Visakhapatnam, the seat allocation sets the stage for TDP to field its candidates in the civic elections. The nomination process for the GVMC polls is scheduled to begin on October 16, with parties preparing to finalise their nominees across the corporation’s 120 wards.
The NDA’s seat-sharing decision establishes which party will contest the Visakhapatnam civic body, while candidate selection and the election process remain the next key steps.
