A new Trupti Canteen has been opened near the Aganampudi government hospital in Visakhapatnam, with Gajuwaka MLA and Telugu Desam state president Palla Srinivasa Rao inaugurating the facility on Monday. Deccan Chronicle

The canteen has been established with support from the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) and the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA). It will be operated by members of women’s self-help groups. Deccan Chronicle

Speaking at the inauguration, Rao said the initiative would support women’s economic empowerment by creating employment and income opportunities for self-help group members. He also said the canteens are intended to provide quality and affordable food to the public. Deccan Chronicle

According to the report, this is the second Trupti Canteen within GVMC limits, with another facility being operated by women at RK Beach.
