Visakhapatnam, ASR Districts Review Preparedness for Local Body Polls



The district administrations of Visakhapatnam and Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) have reviewed preparations for the upcoming local body elections following a video conference chaired by Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner Anil Chandra Punetha on October 8. India Live

The Election Commission directed district administrations to make advance arrangements for polling stations, election personnel, materials and other logistics. Officials were also asked to expedite ward reorganisation in urban areas in accordance with court directions and complete electoral-roll processes as per the prescribed guidelines. India Live

The police were instructed to identify sensitive and vulnerable areas in advance and ensure that personnel deployed for election duties receive the necessary training. Districts have also been asked to submit proposals for conducting polling in phases. India Live

In Visakhapatnam, Collector A. Abhishikth Kishore said the administration had already reviewed arrangements and was prepared to conduct the elections smoothly once the notification is issued. GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg, Additional Commissioners and the Zilla Parishad Deputy Chief Executive Officer also participated in the review. India Live

In ASR district, officials were directed to begin advance preparations and maintain coordination between departments. The Election Commission also cautioned officials and the public against relying on unofficial election schedules or social-media rumours, stressing that only official notifications and guidelines should be treated as authentic.
