In a remarkable display of talent and determination, five athletes from the Veteran Athletics Association of Visakhapatnam (VAAW) represented India at the 37th Malaysian International Open Masters Athletics Championships 2025, held from May 23 to 25 in Malaysia. The athletes brought glory to the country by winning a total of 11 medals — comprising 6 Gold, 2 Silver, and 3 Bronze.

 

The winners were proudly announced by Mangavaraprasad, Secretary General of the Indian Masters Athletics Association, who is currently in Malaysia.

🏅 Medal Winners:

👩‍🦳 Women’s Category:

• H.M. Sujatha (67+) – Gold in Discus Throw and Shot Put

• K. Matsyakonda (55+) – Gold in Javelin Throw

• K. Poornima (40+) – Silver in Discus Throw, Bronze in Javelin Throw

👨‍🦳 Men’s Category:

• R. Manjunath (35+) – Gold in 800m, 1500m, and 3000m runs; Silver in Long Jump

• K.B.V.M. Prasad (40+) – Bronze in Javelin Throw and Triple Jump

The athletes’ triumphant return to Visakhapatnam was met with accolades and warm congratulations from VAAW leadership and patrons, including:
