Visakhapatnam is all set to host thousands of devotees as preparations for Chandanotsavam at the historic Simhachalam Temple are in full swing. Scheduled for April 30, this annual event draws massive crowds who come to witness the rare glimpse of the deity, Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy, without the sandalwood paste covering.
Authorities expect over two lakh devotees this year and have made elaborate arrangements to ensure a smooth, safe, and spiritual experience. Special queues for general pilgrims, senior citizens, and VIPs are being organized to manage the heavy influx. Temporary shelters, free drinking water stations, medical camps, and sanitation teams have been deployed along the pilgrim paths.
The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will run additional bus services from major locations in Visakhapatnam to Simhachalam Hill, ensuring easy accessibility for visitors. Traffic management, additional security forces, CCTV surveillance, and emergency response teams are being mobilized to maintain order and safety throughout the day.
To combat the summer heat, shaded resting areas, free buttermilk distribution, and oral rehydration solutions (ORS) will be provided to devotees. Volunteers and temple staff are gearing up to offer assistance at various points to guide and support pilgrims.
Andhra Pradesh Home Minister emphasized that the administration is personally overseeing the arrangements to ensure a hassle-free and memorable experience for everyone. With a blend of devotion, tradition, and careful planning, Vizag is ready to celebrate Chandanotsavam 2025 on a grand scale.
