Visakhapatnam is undergoing a series of development and beautification works ahead of the CII Partnership Summit, which is scheduled to be held at the Andhra University Engineering College Grounds in Maddilapalem on November 12 and 13. The summit is expected to bring industrialists, investors and delegates from India and abroad to the city.
The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has started works using ₹400 crore allocated by the State government under a special development package. The works include improvements to major roads, central medians and dividers, greenery, junction modernisation and installation of modern lighting systems. Nagarjuna Construction Company (NCC) is executing the works.
GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg inspected ongoing works at Siripuram and along the Dutt Island–Polamamba Temple stretch. Officials were instructed to maintain quality and complete the works within the stipulated timeframe. The Commissioner also directed officials to prepare modern designs for bus bays and electric poles and introduce contemporary lighting systems along important roads.
The civic body is focusing on important routes connecting the airport, hotels, summit venue and tourist destinations, as delegates are expected to travel across these areas. Officials said the works being undertaken through the special package are intended to be permanent improvements, rather than temporary arrangements for the summit.
