Vizag Gears Up for World Record on International Yoga Day 2025

Visakhapatnam is preparing to make history by hosting one of the largest yoga gatherings in the world on International Yoga Day, June 21, 2025. The city aims to bring together 2.5 lakh participants along the scenic stretches of RK Beach and Bheemunipatnam Beach, creating a vibrant display of unity, health, and wellness.

This grand event is part of Andhra Pradesh’s ‘Yogandhra-2025’ campaign, a state-led initiative inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for a world-record-setting celebration. The campaign not only promotes the physical and mental benefits of yoga but also seeks to elevate Andhra Pradesh’s identity as a leading wellness destination in India.

To ensure wide-scale participation, the state government is mobilizing students, yoga instructors, cultural organizations, and wellness associations. A month-long series of preparatory events, awareness drives, and training sessions will kick off from May 21, building momentum toward the grand celebration.

Officials expect massive local and national media coverage, along with the possible presence of international observers to authenticate the record attempt. Elaborate arrangements for logistics, security, and public amenities are being planned, with coordination from health, tourism, and education departments.

The world will witness the power of collective wellness from the shores of Vizag,” said a senior government official overseeing the event preparations. Citizens are encouraged to register early and participate actively in rehearsals and workshops.

This event is not only a tribute to yoga as India's cultural gift to the world but also a statement of Visakhapatnam’s rising profile on the global stage.
