Visakhapatnam has established dedicated infrastructure for the maintenance of Vande Bharat Express trains. A new facility at the New Coaching Complex has been named Vande Bharat Bhavan. The facility is intended to support the maintenance and upkeep of Vande Bharat train coaches operating from Visakhapatnam. Around 400 railway staff are involved in operations at the facility. The development is aimed at strengthening maintenance capabilities for the growing number of Vande Bharat services connected to Vizag. The New Coaching Complex already serves as an important coach maintenance facility of the Waltair Division. It has previously handled maintenance and upkeep of long-distance trains operating from Visakhapatnam. Railway officials have also been focusing on upgrading facilities at the complex to improve maintenance efficiency. Another dedicated coaching complex for Vande Bharat trains is planned at Marripalem. The additional facility is expected to further expand Vizag’s capacity to maintain premium train services. The developments come as Visakhapatnam continues to gain importance in the railway network.
