The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) has accelerated plans to develop a second ghat road to Kailasagiri.
The proposed road is intended to provide an alternative route to the popular hilltop tourist destination.
At present, Kailasagiri has a single main approach road, which often experiences traffic congestion during weekends and peak tourist hours.
The increasing number of visitors has added pressure to the existing route.
VMRDA In-charge Commissioner Ketan Garg recently inspected Kailasagiri along with senior officials.
During the visit, he directed officials to take immediate steps towards developing the proposed second ghat road.
The alternative route is expected to improve accessibility and help ease traffic movement to and from the hilltop.
The development is being considered with future requirements and growing tourist footfall in mind.
Officials also reviewed various development works and infrastructure proposals planned for Kailasagiri.
The Commissioner directed officials to identify suitable land for a proposed Energy Park as part of the area's future development plans.
He also reviewed proposals related to improving tourist facilities and accommodation at the hilltop destination.
The second ghat road is expected to become an important infrastructure addition as Kailasagiri continues to attract increasing numbers of visitors.
