Village and Ward Secretariat employees intensified their protest in Visakhapatnam by staging a sit-in at the busy RTC Complex junction.
Hundreds of employees from the region reportedly gathered at the junction and sat on the roads demanding the resolution of their pending issues.
The protest severely disrupted traffic in and around the RTC Complex and Dwaraka Nagar areas.
RTC buses and other vehicles were diverted through alternative routes as congestion increased around the junction.
Police personnel reached the location and made arrangements to manage the traffic situation and maintain order.
The employees raised several demands related to service conditions, pending financial benefits and career advancement.
Among the issues raised were pending increments, Automatic Advancement Scheme benefits and promotion opportunities.
The protesters also sought better salary and job-security measures.
Some employees raised concerns over workload and the nature of duties assigned to Secretariat staff.
The protest followed several days of agitation by the employees over their unresolved demands.
According to reports, officials held discussions with employee representatives during the protest.
The employees later withdrew the agitation after an assurance from the concerned authorities that their issues would be taken up for resolution.
