131 Doctors Awarded Degrees in Graduation Ceremony at Gitam visakhapatnam
In a momentous event held in Visakhapatnam, 97 BDS and 34 MDS students successfully culminated their dental medical education journey by receiving degrees at the 17th graduation ceremony of GITAM Dental College and Hospital.
The ceremony, which took place on Saturday, was graced by the presence of Dr. Ashok Khandelwal, Vice-Chancellor of Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University (Jabalpur) and member of the Dental Council of India, who served as the chief guest and delivered an inspiring address to the graduates.
Dr. Khandelwal emphasized the prestige and promising prospects within the field of dental medicine, highlighting its evolving nature into a technology-driven practice.
He also shed light on global efforts, citing countries like Norway, Sweden, and Hungary, which have undertaken initiatives to translate medical education literature into local languages. India, he noted, is also progressing in this regard, having signed a memorandum of understanding with Lancet for journals in Hindi.
Addressing the gathering, GITAM president M. Sribharath underscored the importance of raising awareness about oral health in rural areas, emphasizing the need for outreach and education initiatives to promote dental hygiene and care beyond urban centers.
