In a shocking incident, a drunk woman named Amulya assaulted the ASI on duty at the YMCA on Beach Road. The ASI of the III Town police station was on patrol duty on the night of December 14 when, at around 11.20 PM, he received a dail 112 message from the police control room regarding a woman drinking beer in public with many men gathered around her. He immediately proceeded to the location after knowing that she was going towards the Park Hotel on her scooter.

At the YMCA, he noticed that the lady was consuming alcohol in public. He reached out to her and asked her to stop consuming liquor in public and to leave. The drunk woman got angry and started abusing the ASI and tried to hit him with the beer bottle, but when the ASI escaped, she grabbed his shoulder flaps and pulled them, and broke his glasses.

The ASI immediately informed the control room and the Night Round Zone Officer, Srinivas Rao, CI of IV Town Police Station. The zone officer, along with Lakshmi the SI of MR Peta's police station and Disha vehicles reached the spot. After testing her alcohol levels the reading was found to be 148.1mg/100ml. A case was filed against her in crime no: 518/2022 U/s 353, 427, 324 IPC, and Sec. 184, 185 MV Act based on the written complaint from ASI. An FIR was registered in III Town Station and she is sent to court for remand.
