Three Korean Suppliers Choose Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh has attracted a major investment commitment from three South Korean automotive component manufacturers that supply Hyundai and Kia, with the companies choosing the state over Tamil Nadu for their expansion plans.
Hwashin, Seoyon and Iwamet have signed memorandums of understanding with the Andhra Pradesh government to establish manufacturing facilities in Anantapur, according to The Economic Times.
Investment and Employment Details
The combined proposed investment is ₹1,614 crore, divided among the three companies:
-
Hwashin: ₹850 crore, with an expected 100 jobs
-
Seoyon: ₹514 crore, with an expected 918 jobs
-
Iwamet: ₹250 crore, with an expected 400 jobs
Together, the projects are expected to generate approximately 1,418 jobs.
Boost to Anantapur’s Automotive Ecosystem
The proposed facilities are expected to strengthen Anantapur’s position as an automotive manufacturing hub, building on the region’s existing association with Kia’s manufacturing operations near Penukonda.
The investments could also expand the local supplier network, supporting component manufacturing and employment in the Rayalaseema region.
Investment Outreach
The commitments follow Andhra Pradesh IT, Electronics and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh’s visit to South Korea in July, where he met automotive component manufacturers in the Hyundai-Kia supply chain. The state’s Economic Development Board subsequently followed up with the companies to advance the proposals.
The projects are based on signed MoUs; their implementation will depend on the next stages of project development.
