Another Cyclone Threat After Arnab
Andhra Pradesh is preparing for another severe weather event following the impact of Cyclone Arnab. The deep depression over the Bay of Bengal intensified into Cyclone Murasu on November 1, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The storm is forecast to move west-northwestwards and intensify further before approaching the south Andhra Pradesh coast.
Landfall and Wind Forecast
The IMD forecast that Murasu could cross the coast between Nellore and Narsapur from around 11:30 p.m. on November 2 to 4 a.m. on November 3, potentially as a severe cyclonic storm.
Winds of 100–110 kmph, with gusts reaching 120 kmph, were forecast near landfall. The system is also expected to bring heavy to extremely heavy rainfall to parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.
Red Alert in Five Districts
A red alert was reported for Krishna, Guntur, Bapatla, Prakasam and SPSR Nellore for November 2, with extremely heavy rainfall likely at isolated locations. Authorities have stepped up preparedness and are monitoring the storm’s movement and forecast track.
Government Steps Up Preparedness
The State government has directed officials to remain prepared for relief and rescue operations. The storm’s projected path and intensity remain subject to updates from the IMD, so residents are advised to follow official weather bulletins and local administration instructions.
