AU Focuses on Transforming Education with World-Class Infrastructure

Andhra University, one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher learning in India, has undergone a significant transformation in the last three years. With the addition of infrastructure worth about Rs 170 crore, the university has emerged as a modern and dynamic centre of learning, research, and innovation in Vizag.

Among the new structures added to the university are A-Hub, a startup and incubation centre; Nasscom Centre for Excellence for IoT and Machine Intelligence; DigiFac, a low-code training academy; trans-disciplinary research hub; Element, a pharma incubation, and bio-monitoring hub; AU-Avanthi Marine Skill Centre; AU-Saint Lukes Dolby Atmos Studio; AU-RoSYS Centre for Drone Technologies; Bio Arbor; AU School of International Business; and several new hostels and labs.

In addition to these new structures, several existing hostels were renovated and remodeled, saving the university several crores. The university reclaimed about 80 acres of land, some of which was previously encroached upon, and repurposed it into playgrounds and expanded existing ones. The reclaimed land, located in the heart of the city, is valued at several hundred crores of rupees.

The driving force behind these initiatives was the successful tapping of corporate social responsibility grants provided by various public sector and private entities, as well as funds provided by both the Union and state governments. This collaboration between the university and external organizations has enabled the creation of world-class infrastructure for the benefit of the students.

According to the Vice Chancellor of Andhra University, Prof. PVGD Prasad Reddy, all the new infrastructure and construction added to the university in the last three years are aimed at providing the best to the students. The university's commitment to providing a superior learning experience is evident in the various new and upgraded facilities.
