Boosting Cybercrime Awareness: Insights from Andhra Pradesh DGP
During the fourth Regional Conference of Joint Cyber Crime Coordination Team (VI) in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP), K.V. Rajendranath Reddy, emphasized the critical need for increasing awareness about cybercrimes.
The event, jointly organized by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre and the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, brought together approximately 50 senior police personnel from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Odisha, Jharkhand, as well as Union Territories like Lakshadweep, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Puducherry.
DGP Rajendranath Reddy highlighted the importance of law enforcement agencies staying up-to-date with the latest technologies to effectively combat the growing challenges posed by cybercrimes.
Special Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Internal Security), Shivagami Sundari Nanda, and Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner A. Ravi Shankar were among the distinguished participants at the conference.
Shivagami Sundari Nanda addressed the gathering, discussing various types of cybercrimes and emphasizing the significance of coordinated efforts among states and Union Territories to tackle these cases efficiently. She also delivered a presentation on cybercrimes and provided answers to the inquiries posed by the attending police personnel.
The conference delved into a wide range of topics, including the exchange of information on cybercrimes among states, research on cybercrimes, conviction rates, property recovery, preventing cybercrimes related to women and children, exploring the possibilities of Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT), utilization of advanced equipment and technology, personnel training, and awareness programs.
This event shed light on the ongoing efforts to combat cybercrimes and foster cooperation among law enforcement agencies across various regions.
