Visakhapatnam is set to host two important BRICS ministerial meetings on August 22 and 23, 2026. The BRICS Youth Ministers’ Meeting will be held on August 22, followed by the BRICS Sports Ministers’ Meeting on August 23. The meetings are being organised under India’s BRICS Chairship 2026. Representatives from all 11 BRICS member countries are expected to participate in the ministerial engagements. The youth meeting will focus on education, skills, entrepreneurship, wellbeing and sustainable development. Discussions will also address ways to strengthen youth development and empowerment across member countries. The sports meeting will focus on greater cooperation in traditional and indigenous sports, sports technology and sports manufacturing. The meetings are expected to conclude with joint declarations outlining areas for future cooperation. Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya will chair the proceedings, with Minister of State Raksha Khadse also participating. The programme will also include bilateral meetings, cultural engagements and a BRICS Friendship Cycling Event. The international gathering is expected to bring greater attention to Visakhapatnam as a host city for major diplomatic and multilateral events.
