Disha SOS App Comes to the Rescue of Zimbabwean Student in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam: Once again, the Disha SOS app has demonstrated its remarkable effectiveness in providing immediate assistance and protection to those in need, extending its reach to aid a distressed foreign student in the port city.

A postgraduate student from Zimbabwe, enrolled at Andhra University, found herself in a distressing situation and swiftly turned to the Disha app for help. Late one night, a fellow Zimbabwean man visited the student's residence near Krishna College in the city, subjecting her to verbal abuse and harassment. Fearing for her safety, the victim knew she needed help, and she sent out an SOS through the Disha app.

In a remarkable display of efficiency, local police responded within just five minutes. They arrived at the scene, apprehended the man responsible, and successfully rescued the student from her distressing predicament.

Upon the request of the woman, the police offered counseling to the man and allowed him to leave, aiming to address the root cause of his inappropriate behavior.

Expressing her heartfelt gratitude, the Zimbabwean student credited the Disha app, which she had downloaded during her time at Andhra University the previous year. She also extended her thanks to the local police for their prompt response, even in the middle of the night, emphasizing their dedication to ensuring citizens' safety.

Furthermore, she appreciated the government for introducing such an efficient and responsive safety system that continues to make a positive impact in the lives of residents and students alike.
