Eight Arrested, Including Three Juveniles, for Murder Linked to Ganja Dispute
Visakhapatnam: Araku Valley police have cracked the case involving the murder of a 17-year-old in Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) district, resulting in the arrest of eight individuals, including three juveniles.
Three days ago, the lifeless body of the teenager was discovered in a canal near Bonduguda locality under Dumbriguda mandal in ASR district. Initial investigations indicated that the victim had been murdered, but the motive was initially unclear.
Following an intensive investigation, police determined that the murder was motivated by a financial dispute related to the sale of ganja.
Araku Valley Police Inspector Ch. Rudra Sekhar explained: “On July 30, four individuals from Visakhapatnam traveled to Araku to purchase ganja and engaged with a local group. When the local gang asked for money upfront, the visitors offered their mobile phones instead. The local gang agreed to this arrangement.”
The four individuals provided their phones and waited for the ganja, but the transaction never occurred. When they confronted the local gang after several hours, a heated argument ensued.
As tensions escalated, the visitors attempted to flee; one was apprehended while the others escaped, Sekhar added.
The teenager’s parents had filed a missing person report with Dumbriguda police, prompting an ongoing investigation. On August 5, a local farmer discovered the body in a canal near Bonduguda and notified the authorities. The police retrieved the body and transported it to Araku Valley, where the victim was identified by his father.
