In a strategic move to meet the growing demand for online groceries, Flipkart, the e-commerce giant, has inaugurated its second grocery fulfilment centre in Andhra Pradesh, located in Visakhapatnam.

Covering an expansive area of 77,000 square feet, this new facility is equipped to provide next-day delivery services for groceries, boasting a diverse inventory of over 6,000 products, ranging from dairy and eggs to chocolates and staples.

With a robust operational capacity, the centre aims to process approximately 8,000 orders per day, serving not only Visakhapatnam but also its surrounding regions including Anakapalle, Kakinada, Rajahmundry, Srikakulam, and Vizianagaram, as highlighted by Flipkart.

The decision to establish this fulfilment centre in Visakhapatnam stems from the increasing demand observed in the Vizag region, positioning it as a significant market for online grocery shopping, following the success of Flipkart's initial centre in Vijayawada.

This expansion is not only geared towards meeting consumer demand but also towards generating employment opportunities.

It is projected to create nearly 1,000 direct and indirect jobs, thereby contributing to the economic growth of the region and fostering collaborations with local businesses, MSMEs, and farmers.

Rajneesh Kumar, the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Flipkart Group, emphasized the strategic importance of Andhra Pradesh as a priority market for Flipkart, noting the substantial traction observed in online grocery shopping among local consumers.
