Government Employees in Vizag Utilize Postal Ballot for Civic Duty

In an effort to facilitate voting for government employees in Visakhapatnam, the District Election Officer, A. Mallikarjuna, launched a postal ballot voting initiative on May 5.

This initiative caters to 13,751 government employees who are engaged in election duties across the district.

The process commenced at a designated facilitation center housed within the Andhra University English Medium School, with seven such centers established to serve the seven Assembly constituencies within the district.

To ensure accessibility and convenience, special arrangements have been made for home voting on May 7 and 8.

Recognizing potential scheduling conflicts, employees who are unable to cast their votes on these designated days will still have the opportunity to do so on May 9.

Reflecting on past voter turnout, Mallikarjuna noted that the 2019 elections recorded a 66% voting rate and expressed optimism that this year's turnout will surpass 80%.

To accommodate the electorate, a total of 1,991 polling centers have been established throughout the district, with 502 identified as "sensitive" locations requiring heightened security measures to maintain the integrity of the electoral process.

With these proactive measures in place, the District Election Officer is confident in the peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections, ensuring that every eligible voter,

Including government employees, has the opportunity to exercise their democratic right.
