GVMC Commissioner Assures Basic Amenities for Indira Gandhi Colony Residents

Visakhapatnam: Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner P. Sampath Kumar has assured the provision of basic amenities to the residents of Indira Gandhi Colony, a slum near Sri Kanya Theatre in Ward 42.

During his visit to the colony, he inspected the area and interacted with the 76 families residing there to understand their concerns.

An elderly resident, Tavitamma, who has lived in the locality for over 50 years, appealed to the Commissioner to issue house pattas to the residents. She also highlighted issues such as defunct streetlights and waterlogging problems during the rainy season.

Several residents expressed their struggles with the lack of electricity connections, forcing them to live in darkness. Responding to their grievances, the Commissioner promised to address these issues and take necessary steps to provide house pattas to eligible residents.

The GVMC has assured the residents that their concerns will be prioritized, and efforts will be made to improve living conditions in the colony.
