"Higher Incidence of Fatal Road Accidents between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. in Visakhapatnam, Notes Police Commissioner"
The Commissioner of Police, C.M. Trivikrama Varma, has highlighted a concerning trend of fatal road accidents occurring predominantly between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. in the city of Visakhapatnam.
This observation underscores the need for heightened safety measures during these hours.
In a comprehensive analysis of accident data segmented by geographical areas, it was revealed that the National Highway accounted for 67 accidents leading to the tragic loss of 75 lives. Additionally, there were 21 accidents on BRTS roads resulting in the unfortunate demise of 22 individuals.
Mr. Trivikrama Varma addressed the press at the police conference hall, revealing a gradual decline in road accidents within Visakhapatnam during the first half of the year.
He emphasized the police department's dedication to employing statistical insights to further reduce the occurrence of accidents.
Providing statistics, the Commissioner stated that in the year 2021 (up to the end of July), there were 183 reported road accident fatalities.
Comparatively, in the same period of 2022, the city witnessed 212 fatal accidents leading to the tragic loss of 223 lives. As of July in 2023, Visakhapatnam has reported 167 accidents resulting in the unfortunate death of 178 individuals.
