"US Health Authorities Keep Watch on Emerging Covid Variant BA.2.86"
The United States' Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is closely monitoring a newly identified strain of the Covid-19 virus.
This particular variant, known as BA.2.86, is a subvariant of the Omicron lineage and exhibits increased transmissibility compared to its predecessors.
In a statement released on Thursday, the US CDC reported its vigilance regarding this highly mutated virus lineage responsible for Covid-19.
BA.2.86 has already been identified in multiple countries, including the United States, Denmark, and Israel, as outlined in the CDC's communication on the messaging platform X.
"While we continue to gather information about BA.2.86, the CDC's guidance for safeguarding against Covid-19 remains consistent," emphasized the agency.
